Glory

What if there was no such thing as a glorious day, but only normal - even mundane - days, dotted with moments of glory?

The moment homemade Christmas gifts are unveiled...

The moment that I first see my parents walking through the gate at our local airport on Christmas Day....
Watching Mom on the giant swing!

The ending moments of a victorious Scrabble game with Noah - great bday gift, Noah!

The moment that I remember that I married a folk dancer...
Mike found his clogging shoes when he cleaned out the garage,
and we convinced him to give us a demonstration.

The early-morning moments, walking out of Pouakai hut while everyone else was still sleeping, past the boys' sleeping bags on top of the pass, to the tarns....

The moment I walked into the piano studio to find Dad sitting in a sunbeam teaching physics.  Family testimony meeting.

The moment when I stood inside a rainbow with Mercy...

As you walk closer to Maricopa Falls, a circular rainbow appears all around you.  By the time Mercy and I were close enough to see the rainbow, we had taken off our shoes because of the mud up to our shins, soaked in spray.

Other moments...

  • Each time contrasting theme comes up in Danny's Prokofiev Concerto.
  • Watching 3 boys sauntering ahead of me on the way out of Star Wars 7 - all in step,  discussing and laughing...
  • Glow worms in the pouring rain
  • Close-up look at some baby stilts living in a thermal lake in Rotorua
  • Walking across the red bridge during Festival of the Lights at Pukekura Park.
  • 3 Sisters beach.  We passed through a double arch at the end of the hike, only the turn around and see that it was actually a double-double arch.  4 arches!

Books of the week:

Family read-aloud every Christmas

The Great Divorce, by C.S. Lewis
